Light of Books (Education)

Partnered with SWLF (Spinning Wheel Leadership Foundation) to bridge the digital divide faced by children in rural Udaipur during the pandemic and lockdown.

SWLF keeping in mind the low internet and smart-phone penetration, introduced rural book banks and community book distribution drives. Age appropriate books were sourced, sorted and distributed village wise to school-going children. In order for the model to be sustainable, a woman entrepreneur was identified in the community to maintain a stock of books, to facilitate ongoing reading habits in the absence of schools and even post-lockdown. It has been implemented in 2 villages so far and will be replicated in 3 more.
