Spinning Wheel Internship Program (Education)

Objective - Partnered with Spinning Wheel Leadership Foundation to develop a program for rural immersion. The idea was to encourage college students in city areas to experience rural life, understand grass-root problems and identify governance solutions which can be implemented at the local administration level.

Solution proposed - Interns were asked to live with the local community in rural villages to get a true understanding of the daily problems. They were trained to teach at the govt school as well to engage the students in identifying problems and developing ground-up solutions. At the end of the program, interns were asked to present their solutions and work with the local administration to bring about change - ranging from sanitary pad dispensers to groundwater wells to availability of agricultural loans.

Current status - The model was received well by the local community and student participants. It is now replicated on a yearly basis in rural Udaipur, Rajasthan.
